Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

Bay Buchanan, Others Argue Immigration Control Vital for the Future of the GOP

WASHINGTON, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As the Republican National Committee meets to decide the future direction for the party, panelists will argue that opposition to amnesty and support for border security is crucial if the GOP wishes to remain a majority party. Despite the claims by pro-amnesty advocates and the mainstream media that immigration control cost the GOP in the 2008 elections, in virtually every single lost the seat, the Republican supported amnesty and/or the Democrat supported border security, according to a new study.

"Immigration and the 2008 Republican Defeat," will be released by Pat Buchanan's The American Cause on January 29 at 12:30 p.m. at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The study is a detailed analysis of every single Republican seat lost in the 2008 House Race, and shows in virtually every race the Republican supported amnesty or the Democrat supported tough border security.

In addition to discussing this study, panelists will argue

  • Despite years of pandering, the GOP never won the Hispanic Vote; and past success was overstated.
  • More Hispanic voters oppose amnesty and support border control than vote for pro-amnesty candidates like John McCain.
  • Whatever gains, if any, pandering to Hispanics gives is greatly outweighed by loss of the White Vote, which is more important.
  • The Demographic changes made by mass immigration have been disastrous to Republicans and will be fatal if not halted.
  • Support for border security, national sovereignty, and immigration control rallies the GOP and brings Reagan Democrats back into the GOP.

Peter Brimelow -- a columnist for Dow Jones Marketwatch and editor of the immigration reform website VDARE.com. Previously an editor at National Review and Forbes, he is the author of the bestseller Alien Nation: Common Sense About America's Immigration Disaster.
