Ditech Networks (Nasdaq: DITC), a leading provider of voice processing solutions to the world's communications industry, announced today that Qtel, the leading telecom operator in Qatar, is deploying Ditech's Voice Quality Assurance (VQA) and Experience Intelligence (EXi) applications on its Quad Voice Processor (QVP) platform throughout its mobile network. Ditech's industry-leading technology ensures that Qtel, which has a presence in 17 countries, will consistently deliver its subscribers high quality mobile calls, regardless of where a call is made or which device is used.
Ditech's VQA mitigates voice quality problems, including acoustic echo and background noise such as honking from busy streets or wind sounds, before it even reaches the caller's ear. All of these impairments, which are inherent aspects of mobile phone use, can make it difficult to conduct a productive conversation.
Qtel invested in Ditech's solution as part of its ongoing development program aimed at providing world-class communications services in Qatar. Khalil Al-Emadi, Executive Director, Networks at Qtel, said: "Qtel continues to invest in the network technology and infrastructure that provides the best possible standard of services for our customers. In deploying this new voice quality solution from Ditech, we are ensuring that the voice quality of mobile phone calls in Qatar is of the highest clarity and reliability for our corporate and consumer customers."
Qtel is currently deploying QVP across its Qatar-based GSM mobile network, which currently supports the communication needs of the entire population of the State of Qatar. By deploying Ditech's QVP, Qtel ensures that its customers are protected from network-induced impairments such as voice level mismatch, headset- or handset-induced issues like acoustic echo, and environment-induced sound problems like ambient noise. Ditech's EXi non-intrusively monitors and measures users' live phone calls to assess the quality of speech experienced by both callers. Working in tandem, these applications can be configured differently based on Qtel's needs, allowing for maximum flexibility in pinpointing, assessing, and solving voice quality issues.
"Qtel is playing a critical role in the rapid development of telecom services in the MENA and South East Asia regions," said Todd Simpson, President and CEO of Ditech Networks. "The recent deployment of Ditech's QVP throughout Qatar is a strong indication of Qtel's commitment to service quality, and we are proud to help them achieve this goal."
Ditech is exhibiting its voice processing solutions at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week at booth # 2E35 (2-0).
