Concurrent, the folks with the real-time Linux technologies, is targeting its new RedHawk Embedded Linux, a complete software development environment, at embedded applications in a wide-range of industries, including aerospace and defense, automotive, industrial automation, manufacturing and telecommunications. The company says it's trying to reach the fastest-growing segment in the embedded OS market - Linux-based operating systems and tools. Research estimates that the overall embedded/real-time operating system and bundled tool market generated over $900 million in 2007. The Red Hat-compatible OS is based on the RedHawk real-time Linux technology used in the U.S. Navy's AEGIS Weapons Systems and features the latest version of Concurrent's NightStar advanced debugging, analysis and optimization tools, which give operators more control and visibility into their programs. Chief marketing officer David King says, "Concurrent's advanced suite of development tools can dramatically reduce the time-to-market for new embedded applications while optimizing performance on multi-core target systems." It's optimized for multi-core single board computers (SBCs ). Concurrent is already shipping RedHawk Embedded to an unidentified Fortune 500 customer in the defense industry. RedHawk Embedded is available in a five-seat Development Package with options for additional developer seats and annual support. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
