ThinkFree Office Live to Provide Free Online Productivity Suite and Real-time Document Collaboration Offering

ThinkFree, Inc., a leader in next-generation office productivity solutions, today announced a major update to its prior ThinkFree Online offering with the launch of the new ThinkFree Office Live. Leaving its competitors further behind and manifesting its leadership position in the online office suite and Web collaboration space, ThinkFree introduces a new unified online document viewer called Uni Paper and allows use of its service without the need to register as a user.

ThinkFree Office Live consists of ThinkFree Write for word processing, ThinkFree Calc for spreadsheets and ThinkFree Show for presentations. The new Web service presents itself with a familiar interface to first-time users. All symbols and functions are closely adapted from the widely used Microsoft Office series of desktop applications in order to minimize the learning curve and keep things simple.

The new unified online document viewer Uni Paper enables users to open more than 20 major document file types, no matter what office suite or application was used to create them in the first place. This includes Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), OpenOffice Open Document Format (ODF), all Microsoft Office file types as well as exotic varieties such as the Korean Hangul Word Processor format (HWP). Uni Paper is an open viewer which can also be embedded in blog posts and Web pages to allow for fast viewing of publicly shared documents without the need to download them.

“Today’s mobile worker needs to be able to rely on a dependable and versatile productivity platform. ThinkFree pioneered this space with the launch of ThinkFree Online in April 2006,” said Su Jin Kim, CEO of ThinkFree. “ThinkFree Office Live continues this legacy setting a new bar in the industry as well as building the logical bridge between our desktop product and the new mobile apps for netbooks and smartphones.”

Key features of ThinkFree Office Live include:

  • No need to attach documents to e-mails if they need to be shared with business partners or colleagues
  • Collaborative capabilities for group document editing and reviewing
  • Ability to set different collaboration levels, from completely private to accessible by anyone on the Web
  • Document tagging to allow optimal organization and categorization
  • Creation of Adobe PDF documents free of charge
  • Vast document and template library ThinkFree Docs integrated into ThinkFree Office Live
  • Consistent user interface regardless of computer operating system or Web browser used
  • Powerful HTML editor “Note” with push-button publishing directly into Web sites and blogs with document embedding
  • Easy insertion of images through Flickr, the online photo management community, to share more vivid personal images of life events
  • Improved ThinkFree Power Tool replacing the former ThinkFree Manager for seamless synchronization between various office suites
  • New embeddable unified online document viewer Uni Paper enabling incremental converting and page streaming for fast document viewing
  • Open API allowing users and developers alike to rapidly incorporate Uni Paper fast document viewing and easy online presentation in their projects

ThinkFree Office Live comes with 1GB of free, reliable and secure online document storage. Featuring the best roundtrip Microsoft Office compatibility, users can share files worry-free among different office suites, operating systems, computers and mobile devices without the fear of losing formatting. ThinkFree Office Live integrates and synchronizes seamlessly with ThinkFree Office for desktops and ThinkFree Mobile for netbooks, smartphones and mobile Internet devices (MID). Many features such as viewing, searching, converting and sharing documents can be used without the need to register for ThinkFree Office Live. The new Web service is available now in English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese (Traditional/Simplified). Support for additional languages will follow.
