Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

Wilson Electronics Launches iBooster Phone-Specific Kits Keeping Users Connected on the Road

Wilson Electronics, the leading provider of quality amplifiers and antennas for cellular phones and data cards, today announced the launch of the complete line of iBooster™ in-vehicle, plug-and-play cellular amplifier kits designed to improve cellular signals to deliver better voice and data coverage for users on the road. The new iBooster line features three kits: the iBooster for iPhone™, iBooster for BlackBerry® Curve™ and the iBooster Universal, designed for use with most other cellular phones. Each kit includes everything users needs to easily set-up and boost cellular signals in their vehicle.

“With the dependency on voice and data cellular communications at an all time high, users need to trust that their devices will keep them within reach,” said Michael Gartenberg, vice president of research and strategy at Interpret LLC.

Each Wilson Electronics iBooster amplifier kit includes:

  • All-in-one signal amplifier, charger and cradle combo
  • Cradle mounting hardware options
  • Outside vehicular magnet-mount antenna
  • Cigarette lighter power adapter
  • 30-day, money-back guarantee and limited one-year product warranty
  • Phone protective case adapter sleeve, for iPhone kit only

The all-in-one signal amplifier, charger and cradle combo features Wilson Electronics’ bi-directional Smart Technology™ signal amplifier and battery charger built into a phone-specific “slip-in” cradle. Ideal for hands free operation, it can be used in conjunction with a user’s headset or Bluetooth device. While the phone needs direct connection to the cradle to charge, the phone’s voice and data performance will be improved when used near the cradle. Maximum performance, however, is obtained when the phone is actually within the cradle. The cradle also features a pass through connector for external accessory access.

“It seems that when you need your cellular phone the most, it is either out of battery power or unable to reach a signal,” said Joe Banos, COO at Wilson Electronics. “Unique to the wireless market, the iBooster line is the only quality technology available to reduce dropped calls, increase data rates in weak signal areas and create the ability to originate calls in dreaded ‘dead spots’ – all while keeping your phone charged.”

The iBooster for iPhone is now available at authorized Wilson Electronics’ dealers. Visit the dealer locator page at www.wilsonelectronics.com to search for dealers by ZIP code, or to buy the product immediately from an online retail partner. The iBooster for BlackBerry Curve and iBooster Universal will be generally available May 1, 2009. All kits in the iBooster line have an expected average selling price of $240.

The iBooster line is available for demonstration at booth 5006 during the CTIA Wireless 2009 show in Las Vegas April 1-3.
