Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Jemicy School Partners with Calvert School to form Verticy Learning Academy

BALTIMORE, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Jemicy School, of Owings Mills and Towson, MD, has announced that it will partner with the Calvert School, of Baltimore, MD, to create an unprecedented home school curriculum for college bound students with dyslexia/language-based learning differences. This new venture will be known as Verticy Learning Academy and will benefit children who are educated via distance learning, in a home school setting, or other learning environments, who struggle with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences.

The Verticy program incorporates specialized instructional methodologies, individualized learning plans, flexible pacing, and innovative computer-based tools to assist students with language-based learning differences. It allows students and parents to customize the daily study of individual subject areas to match the student's skill level in those different areas, a key ingredient for students who struggle with reading, writing, spelling and comprehension.

Jemicy has long been a leader in the field of education for children with dyslexia/language-based learning differences in grades one through twelve. Jemicy has created a partnership with Calvert School that incorporates it's renowned multisensory and Orton-Gillingham based curriculum into Calvert's long-established and much respected distance learning and home school programs.

About Jemicy School:

Jemicy School, founded in 1973, provides a highly individualized, flexible, and challenging education for above-average to gifted college-bound students with dyslexia/language-based learning differences. A recognized leader in the field of education, Jemicy educates students between the ages of 6 and 18 on two campuses. The Lower and Middle School Campus is located in Owings Mills, MD and the Upper School is based in Towson, MD.

Jemicy's philosophy is based upon building the academic and higher order thinking skills of bright young people through carefully applied research and time-tested multisensory learning. Jemicy serves the whole child, celebrating each student's strengths while exploring individualized skills and strategies that will build the foundation for success in school and in life.

About Calvert School:

Since 1906, Calvert School, a not-for-profit organization, has been providing students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade with a complete, integrated, and accredited curriculum that leaves no gaps in instruction. Calvert's detailed, step-by-step lessons are based on the teachings at Calvert School in Baltimore, MD. The time-tested Calvert program inspires children to reach their full academic potential and helps parents to be effective home teachers.
