Duncan-Williams, Inc. Hires Former Merrill Lynch Senior Analyst Greg Smith as Managing Director, Equity Capital Markets Group

MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Duncan-Williams, Inc. announces the hiring of Greg Smith as a Managing Director in its Equity Capital Markets Group. Mr. Smith is a seasoned equity research professional and will play an instrumental role in expanding Duncan-Williams equity business through the coverage of payment and financial processing companies.

Mr. Smith's coverage universe will form a key vertical for Duncan-Williams. "We are very excited to announce Greg's hiring. He brings over 12 years of sellside equity research experience and is very well regarded in the industry," said Ben Labry, Executive Managing Director of Duncan-William's Equity Capital Markets Group. "Given the combination of Greg's industry knowledge and relationships and those of the firm, we have a formula to create a powerful platform following and serving financial technology companies," added Duncan F. Williams, President of DWI.

"I am thrilled to be joining Duncan-Williams at a key inflection point in the company's growth," stated Mr. Smith. "The firm's long, successful history in fixed income and industry relationships provides a strong foundation to build upon. I look forward to providing our clients with deeper, more focused research coverage than what is typically provided by bulge bracket firms on Wall Street."

Mr. Smith will remain based in San Francisco and will also be working in conjunction with management to build and administer the firm's presence in the city.

Mr. Smith most recently served as a Senior Director at Merrill Lynch following Computer Services and IT Consulting Companies. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Smith provided lead coverage of over twenty companies spanning across payment processors, financial processors, payroll processors, IT consultants and outsourcers, and other technology companies. In addition, he managed a team of junior analysts covering over ten additional companies.

Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Mr. Smith was a Senior Analyst at J.P. Morgan and Hambrecht & Quist.
