Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

Active Endpoints Experiences Rapid Growth in Q1 2009
ActiveVOS BPMS Acquires New Customers and Expands Existing Deployments

Active Endpoints, Inc., has announced that despite tough economic conditions its ActiveVOS business process management suite (BPMS) continued to grow rapidly in Q1 of 2009 by acquiring new customers and expanding ActiveVOS deployments in existing customers. This success is due in part to Active Endpoints' unique business model, which allows prospective customers to download ActiveVOS, try it themselves in a fully supported environment and know upfront what the costs for licenses, support and maintenance will be. This approach to the growing BPM marketplace has matched up perfectly with today's technology buyers, who demand immediate return on investment and value for money in software expenditures. Active Endpoints has also continued to innovate in its core technology, releasing ActiveVOS 6.1 in March, 2009 with over a dozen new features for business analysts, developers, IT managers and end users.

ActiveVOS new product sales grew 276% in Q1 of 2009 compared to Q1 of 2008. Product revenue grew nearly 20% in Q1 2009 over Q4 2008, a remarkable result given the robust growth ActiveVOS experienced in Q4 of 2008. Both figures document the growth in ActiveVOS product licenses excluding professional services, a tough but important measure of real product adoption. Clearly, companies around the world are seeking BPM systems that offer integrated functionality, ease of use, rigorous standards compliance and affordable pricing. As a result, ActiveVOS has emerged as the savvy BPM buyer's BPMS of choice.

In Q1 of 2009, customers acquiring ActiveVOS for the first time included Volksbank Hungary Private Ltd., US mobile and cable music provider Music Choice and UK insurer Amlin Insurance. Customers who expanded deployments of ActiveVOS in Q1 2009 included Swiss insurance company Die Mobiliar, AAPT, the Australian telecommunications subsidiary of New Zealand Telecom and AXA, a global insurer. A growing community of ActiveVOS partners, including Dr. Karb GmbH in Germany and Idea Port Riga AS in Latvia, also contributed to the worldwide success of ActiveVOS in Q1.

ActiveVOS allows developers, business analysts, operations staff and managers to model, develop, test, deploy, and manage a new generation of 100% standards-based BPM applications affordably and quickly. In contrast to the costly, stitched-together-through-acquisition approaches of other vendors, ActiveVOS is complete. ActiveVOS is easy to learn and can be rapidly deployed. Download a fully-supported trial of ActiveVOS at www.activevos.com/trial.
