ROCHESTER, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 05/12/09 -- Green Grove Design is introducing Robal Glass, a new material made of 100% recycled glass in clear, soy-based resin, in Booth #2354 in the Material Matters section at the ICFF in New York City, May 15-18, 2009. In an effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle, designer Scott Grove produces interior and exterior furnishings and accessories, fine art and sculpture; his company, Green Grove Designs, uses Robal Glass(TM) as a primary material. "I've made the choice to heal and maintain our environment by using sustainable and recycled substances such as Robal Glass in my new work," said Grove. "I'm excited to bring this new material and share the design flexibility of it to the ICFF." Using a recently-patented process, Robal Glass can be cast into a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors designed to save the environment and help architects qualify for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) points. It reveals a lustrous, translucent depth and honesty not found in any other cast material available today. By using glass rescued from the landfill, Robal Glass products have up to an 82 per cent or more recycled content by weight and is made into interior and exterior tables, furnishings, mirrors and sculpture as well as vanities, shower stalls, window sills, and other fixtures to be used in homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, and other buildings. Sterilized recycled glass made from beer, wine and liquor bottles, windows, beakers, jars and other pre-consumer and post-industrial glass in clear, amber, cobalt, and green create a rich combination of colors and applications limited only by one's imagination. Current colors available are Cobalt, Amber, Polar, Tundra, Caribbean, Prairie, Ocean, Forest and Jungle; custom colors can be created. Smooth or bumpy textures and color gradation is also available. "I've always been intrigued by new materials, and Robal Glass sparkles with a three-dimensional aesthetic that draws you in," said Grove. "To be a part of this new venture, creating and designing beautiful pieces from what would have been industrial and consumer castoff is particularly gratifying and adds an entirely new level of cultural responsibility to my work."
