Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. Zoho Receives a 2009 “Webware 100” Award for Productivity

Zoho today announced that its suite of award-winning on-line business applications received a 2009 Webware 100 award for Productivity by Webware, a CNET site. The Web 2.0 user community cast more than 630,000 votes in an online voting poll which ultimately selected the winners. Finalists for the 2009 Webware 100 Awards were selected by the editors of Webware.

The 2009 Webware 100 Awards recognize the best Web 2.0 sites, services and applications that are leading the next wave of innovation. Webware editors received and reviewed thousands of entries. A complete list of the winners can be found at http://www.webware.com/100/.

Zoho is a comprehensive suite of on-line business applications that customers use to run their business processes, manage their information and be more productive while at the office or on the go, without having to worry about expensive or outdated hardware or software. To date, Zoho has launched 19 different applications — from CRM to Mail, Reports, and Wikis. In addition to the 2009 Webware 100 Award, Zoho has been named a 2009 TiE50 winner and received numerous awards, including a 2008 PC World “25 Most Innovative Products Award” and a 2007 TechCrunch “Best Enterprise Start-up.”

“The Webware 100 awards are based on over half a million votes from users, not just a few select panelists,” said Raju Vegesna, Zoho evangelist. “Customers appreciate the fact that we listen to their needs and, in response, have built a suite of applications that has breadth, depth and integration.”

“This annual listing has become such an essential resource for people who want to learn more about Web 2.0 and the many ways it can help them stay connected,” said Rafe Needleman, editor at Webware and CNET. “The Web 2.0 community and our editors ultimately selected the very best sites, services and applications that have made a lasting impression.”
