Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

In many cases, the end of the year gives you time to step back and take stock of the last 12 months. This is when many of us take a hard look at what worked and what did not, complete performance reviews, and formulate plans for the coming year. For me, it is all of those things plus a time when I u...

Yapta.com Expands Airfare Tracking Capability to 21 International Carriers
Airfare Tracking & Alert Service Adds Nine New International Airlines to Its Monitoring Mix

SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/27/09 -- Yapta.com, an online travel shopping service that monitors airfare and hotel prices for travelers, today announced that it's now tracking prices and issuing airfare savings alerts on flights from nine additional international carriers, including Aeromexico, Air India, Air Jamaica, Air New Zealand, China Airlines, Emirates, El Al Airlines, Korean Air and Qantas Airways. In total, Yapta can now track airfare prices from 35 airlines, including 21 international carriers and 14 U.S.-based carriers.

"We've seen a lot of price volatility on international flights in recent months as foreign carriers continue to stimulate demand by lowering fares and as airlines compete for certain markets," said Yapta.com CEO, Tom Romary. "In some instances we've seen prices fall quite drastically and present travelers with an excellent opportunity to book at a low fare. By introducing tracking capability on nine additional international carriers, we're broadening the opportunity for world travelers to save on their airfare by alerting them when prices shift in their favor."

Yapta is a free service that helps travelers find domestic and international flights and hotels, and then tracks prices daily. Yapta also offers a Premium Service that -- for a fee of $15 -- will help travelers obtain an airline travel credit when prices drop after they've booked their ticket, including international flights on U.S.-based carriers. Travelers that do not choose to engage Yapta's Premium Service are provided with all the information they need to obtain a travel credit themselves. Currently, more than 30 percent of Yapta's users are tracking prices on international flights.

"Most U.S.-based airlines that offer international service will give you a travel credit if the price of your flight drops in excess of their re-booking fee -- which is typically $250 on international flights," Romary said. "The re-booking fee may seem like a big hurdle to clear, but it does happen -- and we've helped travelers capture that savings in the form of a travel credit that's good towards a future flight."

Since launching its free service two years ago, Yapta has alerted over 600,000 travelers to more than $180 million in savings -- both before and after they book their airfare.

About Yapta.com

Yapta.com, Your Amazing Personal Travel Assistant, was founded in 2006 with the mission to help travelers receive the optimal value out of their online travel planning. Yapta enables travelers to find their ideal flights and hotel rooms, track airfare and hotel rates, and be alerted when prices drop. Bringing to light pro-consumer "guaranteed airfare" policies offered by many airlines, Yapta also helps travelers obtain an airline travel voucher when the price decreases on tickets that have already been purchased.
