Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Vialtus Solutions Launches New, Flexible, Application Hosting Services
- Designed to Help Businesses get the Most out of Enterprise Applications

LONDON, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Vialtus Solutions (formerly Pipex Business) launches its new Application Hosting services today, aiming to help businesses take advantages of an increasing array of enterprise applications delivered from one of the company's two UK datacentres to any IP-enabled device. The new hosting services are designed to offer businesses the most appropriate combination of technology, customer service and flexibility to enable them to use hosted applications to improve productivity and reduce IT costs.

Included as part of the new standard application hosting package is management and monitoring, a 99.97% uptime SLA, a 4 hour hardware replacement commitment and round the clock technical support (24/7x365). The service comes with a range of HP server specifications (suitable web, application and database), as well as a supported or managed Microsoft Windows Server with IIS, and REDHAT Linux v4 or v5 with Apache or Personal Home Page (PHP).

Maria Cappella, CEO of Vialtus Solutions, explains, "In the current economic environment businesses need to make the most of their business-critical applications. At a time when IT budgets are being heavily scrutinised, we want to help our customers to maximise the benefits of their enterprise applications.

"Many application hosting contracts also give businesses no flexibility to change their package until the renewal date so we've designed our new services to be totally flexible - enabling customers to add/or, change options as their business requirements change."

Customers can also choose from additional hosting services, including operational recovery, enhanced server monitoring & patching (per server), managed intrusion detection (MIDS), protection against DDoS and both software and hardware load-balancing - in addition to the provision of a redundant power supply offered as standard. Vialtus can also provide the latest managed firewalls from both Cisco and Juniper and an MS SQL/My SQL or Oracle 10g databases.

All hosting services use Vialtus Solutions' own ISO 27001 accredited data centres in London and/or Manchester.
