Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Everypath and Socket Deliver Mobile Enterprise Solutions
Real-Time Access the Key

A recent analyst report shows that use of mobile data services increases overall global workforce productivity by 13.4 percent. Enterprise IT organizations today are thus behooved to recognize the benefits mobile data solutions have on workforce productivity, empowerment and access to real-time mobility data.

Now, Everypath and Socket Communications aim to capitalize on this trend through a partnership to provide integrated solutions that streamline data collection and enterprise information access for mobile workers.

Everypath, based in Santa Clara, CA, specializes in Mobile Task Automation (MTA) solutions for the enterprise, and Newark, CA-based Socket Communications bills itself as the Mobile Connection? Company. Together, then plan to offer greater collaboration capabilities for field sales and service professionals.

The integration of Socket¹s barcode scanning technology with Everypath¹s MTA solution enables mobile professionals to detail customer interactions, capture orders and manage inventory with greater efficiency and accuracy, according to Everypath.

Everypath CEO Mark Tapling notes, "We strive to provide our customers with the best mobile tools to enhance their productivity in the field. Socket¹s proven expertise in mobile barcode scanning makes it a natural fit with our solutions. The ability to automate data collection in the field and update inventory in real-time empowers field employees to concentrate on more critical tasks when working with customers and prospects."

With the combined Everypath MTA and Socket barcode scanning solution, customers benefit from real-time product, inventory and pricing information and the ability to capture accurate data while in the field, according to Everypath. The company's MTA applications streamline and deliver data from existing databases within the network directly to handheld devices operated by employees in the field.

Socket offers a variety of plug-in and cordless barcode scanning products, providing efficient alternatives to manual data entry via keyboard. Socket¹s barcode scanners have been shown to be up to 50 times faster than the manual method and to dramatically improve data accuracy. Everypath MTA software supports Socket¹s CF Scan Card 5 Series, its Cordless Hand Scanner, 2D Scan Card and RFID Reader.

"Everypath is uniquely positioned to help enterprise customers improve the effectiveness of their field activities," said Peter Phillips, vice president of marketing at Socket. "Our common goal of empowering the mobile worker is supported as we provide more comprehensive solutions that improve the speed and accuracy of field data collection. The combination of
Everypath MTA software and Socket barcode scanning solutions allows field professionals to gather and use critical data immediately, onsite."

Phillips said the Socket scanners are easy to use, requiring no additional training and integrate seamlessly with Everypath MTA. The integrated solution is available now from Everypath.
