SOA in many ways reminds me of relational database technology. At it’s first inception, the concept of an RDBMS must have had a hard sell. Sure it made perfect sense to arrange the data and ensure that the relationships between the data were enforced but what was the business case that enabled th...

Wily Technology Releases Benchmark Survey of Java EE Application Performance
Measures Industry-wide User Experiences with the Deployment of Java EE Applications

Java EE ApplicationWily Technology has announced the results of the 2005 Wily Benchmark Survey of Java EE Application Performance and Availability.  This global survey measured industry-wide user experiences with the deployment and management of J2EE applications across a spectrum of enterprises and public sector organizations, and builds on knowledge from Wily's 2003 survey results.

"More organizations than ever depend on Java EE applications for their most critical business functions, but fewer than half are able to effectively measure their ongoing performance" said Mike Malloy, senior vice president Marketing, Wily Technology.  "The lack of effective management solutions can place IT leaders in a risky and reactive position, where their first warning of an application failure may be a customer complaint.  Proactive management of these complex computing environments is the best way to accurately monitor SLAs and ensure a quality customer experience."

More than 230 active Java EE users from around the world participated in the 2005 Benchmark Survey. This data was correlated with information from Wily's 2003 study to create a unique, historical analysis of the usage, management and performance trends of Java-based enterprise applications.  Two thirds of the respondents in Wily's 2005 survey are from companies with revenue greater than $50 million, the final third of respondents are from companies with more than $500 million in revenue.  The complete 2005 Wily Java EE Benchmark Survey report with full statistical analysis is available at http://www.wilytech.com.

"Wily's survey contains detailed insight concerning the growth and performance of Java-based applications over the last two years," said Jasmine Noel, principal analyst, Ptak, Noel & Associates.  "The growing complexity of computing environments has made the performance of Java EE applications an essential ingredient for a successful business.  IT leaders with insufficient management and problem diagnosis to manage these environments run a serious risk of application downtime and significant loss of revenue -- read the Wily report if you want to know how your enterprise performance stacks up against the competition."

Wily's 2005 Benchmark Surveys of Java EE Application Performance and Availability is designed to help organizations understand the performance of their applications by presenting detailed, comparative information regarding the overall direction of J2EE application performance.  The survey contains data on the availability and performance of deployed applications; application management strategies, tools and techniques; and future investment plans for Java EE development and deployment, as well as the evolution of complex enterprise infrastructures.
